Track & field closes regular season at UIW Invitational

Southwestern men's and women's track and field ended their regular season with a tune-up meet against area Texas schools at the University of Incarnate Word Invitational in San Antonio.

Paden Williams had the highest individual finish on the track for the men, taking 13th in the 400 meter hurdles in a time of 1:01.13. It was just the first time he ran the event and places him fifht on the SCAC leaderboard. The men's 4x400 relay of Ryan Huiszoon, Williams, Kyle Bauernschmitt and Ian Huang came in 10th in 3:41.88.

Milton Holmes finished 11th in the triple jump with a personal best jump of 11.63 meters. Will Devine also had an 11th place finish in the shot put with a toss of 11.96 meters. Tyler Adams had the best finish in the field, taking sixth in the discus with an SU record throw of 39.50 meters while also finishing eighth in the hammer at 35.05 meters.

Derek Harenda finished in eighth in the discus, posting a new personal best, (38.12 meters) and Jesus Lucero in 10th (33.82 meters) while Nathan Balke finished in 12th with a throw of 30.36 meters. Will Devine finished in 15th with a throw of 24.18 meters. In the javelin, Taylor Stephens finished in 10th with a personal record throw of 34.17 meters. Adams and Harenda sit in third and sixth in the SCAC in the discus currently while Adams is also first in the hammer. 

Brianna Timourian continues to get stronger on the track for the women, posting an 18th place finish in the 1500 meters with a personal record time of 5:08.24. Sara Cowan had a great showing on the day coming in 12th overall with a personal record time of 1:11.04 in the 400 meter hurdles and 12th in the triple jump with an SU record distance of 9.45 meters.

In field events, Kimi Prevost had a 4th place finish in the javelin at 27.85 meters and 12th place finish in the shot put (9.13 meters) while Anna Hugel finished ninth in the discus with an SU record distance of 30.50 meters. Ellie Enis also had a top 10 finish, taking eighth in the hammer with a personal record throw of 34.15 meters and Maya Adighibe finished ninth with a throw of 33.98 meters.

The Pirates return to San Antonio to compete in the SCAC Conference Championships beginning on Friday in San Antonio, Texas.
