Thorne named SCAC Men's Field Athlete of the Week

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - First-year field athlete Rance Thorne was named the SCAC Field Athlete of the Week after an impressive performance this past weekend. 

Thorne placed 2nd overall in the Javelin (first among Division III athletes) at the UIW Cardinal Invitational on April 11th-12th. 

Thorne threw a personal best in the Javelin by seven meters landing him No. 2 on the SCAC leader board. 

He also threw the Shot, Hammer and Discus at the meet.  Thorne's throw of 31.82m in the Hammer is a personal best bringing him to No. 2 in the SCAC. His throw of 30.83m in the Discus is also a personal best and places him 4th in the SCAC.

The Pirates head to San Antonio to close the season at the SCAC Track & Field Championships beginning on Friday, April 25th at Trinity University.
