CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — Southwestern men's tennis player Hunter Bajoit was defeated 6-4, 6-3 by Tufts University's Isaac Gorelik in the Round of 32 at the NCAA Division III Men's Individual Championship.
In a match between two first-time NCAA Tournament participants, Gorelik was more efficient with a first-serve percentage of 86 (43-for-50) to Bajoit's 63 percent (40-for-63), with 70 percent (30-for-43) on first-serve points won. In a close second set, Bajoit committed three double faults.
The match wraps up a successful season for Bajoit. The junior from The Woodlands, Texas, was named the SCAC Co-Player of the Year, posting a 12-3 singles record, including a perfect 11-0 from No. 2 singles to become the third-ranked player in the West Region. He helped lead Southwestern to its first NCAA Tournament appearance and became the second Pirate to qualify for the NCAA Individual Championship.
