Pirates Continue Winning Streak Defeating Colorado College

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. –  The Southwestern University men's tennis team defeated the Colorado College Tigers 8-1 in an away match on Saturday afternoon.
 
Southwestern swept all three doubles matches, getting an 8-6 victory from Carlos Esteban Rodero and Drew Shuvalov over Jack Delafield and Andrew Kaelin in the No. 1 spot. "Drew was back in our lineup and played well today, giving us a huge boost in doubles," says Head Coach Billy Porter.
 
Hunter Bajoit and Vesko Lekovic bested Sam Hum and Alex Baum 8-6 in the No. 2 spot and Alexander Joseph and Steven Tibbetts defeated Joseph Dryer and Jacob Adas 8-3 in the No. 3 spot.
 
"Vesko really cranked it up at 2-5 down in doubles with great energy to help in getting us that point," says Porter.
 
In singles, Lekovic was defeated by Hum 6-3, 6-3 in the No. 1 spot. However, Bajoit bested Delafield in the No. 2 position by a score of , 7-5, 6-4 and Joseph defeated Billy Taylor 6-1, 6-1 in the No. 3 spot.
 
Rodero won 6-1, 6-2 to Kaelin playing at in No. 4 singles and Steven Tibbetts won over Dryer, 6-4, 6-1. Lastly, Anton Borovik defeated Adas in a hard-fought match 2-6, 7-5, 1-0. "Anton finally pulled out a close match and needed that one," says Porter.
 
With the win, the Pirates continue undefeated and improve to 6-0 on the season play and 4-0 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) play. Southwestern will travel back to Georgetown to take on the University of the Ozarks at home on Tuesday, March 23 at 4:30 PM.
