GEORGETOWN, Texas – The No. 24-ranked Southwestern University Pirates men's tennis team defeated the McMurry War Hawks 9-0 to sweep both its home matches today.

Alexander Joseph and Dean Dulthummon scored the Pirates' first match with an 8-1 victory over Joseph Diaz and Reid Smith in No. 2 doubles while Alexis Dimanche and Carlos Esteban Rodero defeated Chris Causer and Zach Miller 8-2 in the No. 3 spot.

"Carlos and Alexis struggled this morning and played much better in the afternoon," Head Coach Billy Porter said. "Carlos did a really good job of using his size to be on top of the net and finish point."

In a rematch of the fall's ITA Regional Doubles Final, Hunter Bajoit and Hemanshu Ramobjun scored an 8-7 victory in No. 1 doubles.

"Hunter and Hemanshu got revenge from their fall loss in the ITA Final by playing great when it mattered," Porter said. "They fought off two match points at 6-7, then again in the tiebreaker."

In singles, Dulthummon kept the momentum going with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Reid Smith and Steven Tibbetts bested Joseph Diaz 6-2, 6-1 in the five spot.

Joseph won in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1, against Miller in No. 3 singles and Bajoit did the same to Daniell, winning 6-2, 6-4. Dimanche followed with a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Martinez and Tyler Norman stepped into the No. 5 spot to close the day with a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Trey Fambrough.

"It was great to see Tyler in action today," Porter said. "I thought he did a fantastic job moving his opponent side to side with his groundstrokes."

With the win, the Pirates improve to 5-1 on the season. Southwestern will travel to Seguin on Thursday, March 5 to face the Texas Lutheran University Bulldogs.
