Men's Tennis Defeats Colorado College

GEORGETOWN, Texas – The Southwestern University Pirates men's tennis team fixed its doubles issues for an afternoon, sweeping the Colorado College Tigers 9-0 on Thursday.

Southwestern opened the match with momentum, earning three consecutive 8-4 victories in doubles with Hunter Bajoit and Carlos Esteban Rodero defeating Noah Forman and Daniel Holland, Alexic Dimanche and Dean Dulthummon besting Jacob Adas and Christian Kitchen, and Alexander Joseph and Vesko Lekovic beating Alex Kley and Alex Wimer.

"It was awesome to be back on the right side of the doubles sweep," Head Coach Billy Porter said. "I thought Dean and Alexis played their best match together yet."

Dimanche and Forman played a hard-fought match in the No. 1 position with Dimanche dropping the first set and recovering to win in three sets. Bajoit had an easier time, defeating Holland in straight sets.

"Hunter finally made a match easy on himself after playing numerous close matches all year and believe his confidence will grow from this," Porter said.

The Pirates got two more commanding victories with Joseph defeating Adas and Dulthummon beating Kitchen in straight sets. Fernandez won his first set 6-1 and fought through for a 6-4 victory in the second. Max Pearson broke an extended rough patch, defeating Kley in straight sets.

"Max Pearson getting back into the win column was so big for him after going through a seven-match losing streak," Porter said.  "He desperately needed that one."

With the win, the Pirates improve to 11-4 on the season. Southwestern will host Texas Lutheran University tomorrow at 1:00 p.m.
