Pirates Lose to Skidmore College in Hard-Fought Match

CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Southwestern University Pirates men's tennis team dropped a hard-fought match against No. 26 Skidmore College, losing 6-3.

Southwestern and Skidmore went down to the wire in each of the three doubles matches with the Hunter Bajoit and Alexis Dimanche and Dean Dulthummon and Alexander Joseph pairings each losing 8-6. Alonso Fernandez and Carlos Esteban Rodero taking the No. 3 match to 7-7 before losing 7-2 in the tiebreaker.

Bajoit put the Pirates on the board, dropping the first set against Jack McClaren and recovering to take the last two 6-1 and 6-3. Joseph had an easier time, taking the No. 3 in straight sets while Dulthummon took his match all the way to the tiebreaker of the third set, winning it 9-7.

Skidmore's JT Wynne defeated Dimanche in two sets and Max Pearson lost in three. Rodero dropped his in three, taking the last two sets to tiebreakers.

With the loss, the Pirates drop to 9-2 on the season. Southwestern will travel to Relands, California to play the University of Redlands on Monday, March 18 at 6:00 p.m.
