Pirate Tennis Sweeps SCAC Tennis of the Week Awards

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Dean DulthummonAlexis Dimanche, and Grant Gideon along with Mariana QuetzeriEsther Bowers, and Julie Swets gave the Southwestern tennis team a complete sweep of the SCAC tennis awards for the weekend.

Dulthummon moved up from No. 3 singles to the second-line this week. Dulthummon did not drop a set, going 3-0 against Hardin-Simmons University, Schreiner University and Mary Hardin-Baylor. 

Dimanche and Gideon went 3-0 at No. 1 doubles last week to lead the Pirates to three victories. The duo scored wins over Hardin-Simmons, Schreiner and Mary Hardin-Baylor. They posted 8-2 wins over both HSU and UMHB, but faced a tough battle against SCAC foe, Schreiner, defeating the duo of Andrew Albright and Roger Santos 9-8(5).

On the women's side, Quetzeri filled a variety of roles this week, playing at #3, #4, and #5 singles this week. Quetzeri earned a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles against Schreiner University to kick off the week, then posted a 6-2, 6-2 win at the fourth line against Hardin-Simmons University. She closed out the week with a 6-1, 6-0 win over the No. 3 player from Mary Hardin-Baylor.

Bowers and Swets played at #1 and #2 doubles this week, going 3-0 in a trio of 9-0 wins for the Pirates. The duo picked up a pair of 8-5 wins at the second line against Schreiner University and Hardin-Simmons on Saturday before moving up to the top spot for an 8-1 win over Mary Hardin-Baylor.
