LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Senior Grant Gideon of the Southwestern University men's tennis team was named the SCAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week after an outstanding weekend in leading the Pirates to a 2-0 record.
Gideon went 2-0 last week, winning in the second line against Concordia University (TX) and East Texas Baptist.
In his first match of the week, Gideon defeated Adam Compton of Concordia 6-1, 7-6(3).
Against ETBU, Gideon was up 5-2 in the first set before eventually losing it 16-14 in the first set tiebreaker. He bounced back to take the second set 6-0 and pulled out the third set on a 10-point tiebreaker, 10-8.
