Pirates downed in SCAC Championship Match by Tigers

SAN ANTONIO - The 37th-ranked Southwestern men's tennis squad suffered a 5-1 loss to No. 13 Trinity in the SCAC Championship match Sunday at the Al G. Hill Jr. Tennis Stadium.

The Pirates picked up their lone point at the third doubles spot. Dean Dulthummon and Will Ellis logged an 8-5 victory over Trinity's Jordan Pitts and Liam Crawley.

However, the Tigers won the other two doubles matchups, including a 9-8 edge at the top position. Trinity also netted three straight-set victories in singles action to clinch the championship.

Southwestern, which fell to 18-7 overall, reached the conference title match for the third consecutive season.
