LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Southwestern University junior Grant Gideon was selected Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday afternoon.

Gideon, a native of San Angelo, tallied a 4-0 record last week, while the 36th-ranked Pirates earned two sweeps. He teamed up with Nickoloz Snovely to log a 2-0 record at the top doubles spot. Gideon also netted a pair of straight-sets victories on the singles courts.

Southwestern (17-5) has won seven consecutive matches, including six of seven by 9-0 decisions. The Pirates will travel to San Antonio Friday for a matchup with No. 14 Trinity.
