Men's tennis tops Schreiner, advances to championship match

KERRVILLE, Texas – The second-seeded Southwestern men's tennis team held off No. 3 seed Schreiner, 5-2, in Saturday's Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships semifinal.

The Pirates (19-6) will face top-seeded Trinity in Sunday's championship match, which is scheduled for 8 a.m.

Southwestern started the match strong with wins in two of the three doubles contests.

The Mountaineers picked up a point at No. 3 singles to pull even.

The Pirates answered with three consecutive singles wins to close out the contest.

Nick Farmen won at the second position in straight sets to put SU ahead. Nickoloz Snovely added a 6-1, 6-2 triumph at the top spot to give the Bucs a 4-2 lead.

Neik Khansari then clinched the match with a 6-1, 6-1 victory at the sixth position.
