BELTON, Texas - Southwestern hit the courts for the first time
this spring against tough competition at the UMHB Invitational and
came out with good results and great starts to the season.
The duo of sophomore Alexander Reinsch and junior D'Art Bebel
played great all weekend despite playing together for the first
time and caputured second place in doubles. They were beat by
UMHB's Pownall/White 8-2 in the championship match.
Sophomore Alex Lam and first-year Andrew Clarage had a slow start
in doubles action but soon found their stride as they claimed 5th
place.
Bebel and Lam both dropped their opening matches of flight 1
singles but advanced to the 5th place match and played each other
with Lam edging out Bebel, 1-6, 7-5, 6-4 for fifth place.
In flight two singles Clarage great improvement from the fall
became apparent as he snagged third place. Fellow first-year Andrew
Olsson dropped his opening match but settled in for the remainder
of the tournament to take 5th place.
Southwestern heads to Texas Lutheran on February 19th for a dual
match beginning at 4:00 pm.
