Men's  Swim Team Remains in Second Place After Third Day of SCAC Championship 

SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- After finishing the third day of the Southern Athletic Collegiate Conference (SCAC) Swim & Dive Championships, the men's swim team remains in second place with 531 points and a 51-point margin behind Trinity, with 661 points.

Southwestern men's swim also came in second place to Trinity in the 400-yard medley relay with  Carter Duncan, Alek Argueta, Massimo Gasponi and Keith Gill finishing with a time of 3:27.91. Argueta also finished in second place in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 56.99 while Sam Anderson finished in fourth place with a time of 57.75 and Sean Calvert finished in seventh place with a time of 58.61 12. 

In the 400-yard IM, Matt Oevermann finished in second place with a time of 4:10.42 followed by Caden Garza who grabbed third place with a time of 4:15.94. Brock Bloomquist finished in fifth place with a time of 4:17.65 while Sean Calvert tied for seventh with a time of 4:21.35. 

In the 100-yard butterfly, Gill came in third place for the Pirates with a time of 50.41, followed by Gasponi who finished fourth place with a time of 51.16. Caleb Pfiefer finished seventh place with a time of 52.26 and Jack Hansen finished eighth place with a time of 52.37. 

Other highlights from the day included Todd Coachman with a fourth-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:42.76 and Dylan Neumann finishing sixth with a time of 1:43.20. Lastly, Duncan finished in fifth place in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 53.07 and Connor Moland claimed seventh place with a time of 53.37. 

Up next, men's swim will finish their last day to compete for the SCAC Championship title. Preliminaries will start at 10:30 a.m. followed by the finals at 6:00 p.m. at the Josh Davis Natatorium.
