Men's Swimming and Diving Falls to University of the Incarnate Word
SAN ANTONIO -- The Southwestern University Pirates men's swimming and diving team lost 175-77 in its head-to-head meet with the University of the Incarnate Word. 
 
Matt Oevermann was the first Pirate to crack the top three, placing second in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:28.03 to Incarnate Word's Oscar Cardenas Reyes' 10:03.20. 
 
Sam Anderson earned another Pirates second-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle, scoring a time of 48.30. Keith Gill finished third in the event (49.58). 
 
Carter Duncan followed with a second-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke (57.45). Alek Argueta placed second in the 100-yard breaststroke (59.98) and Sal Contreras was second in the 500-yard freestyle (5:15.37). 
 
Matt Oevermann took another second-place finish for the Pirates, scoring a 4:25.88 in the 400-yard individual medley and the Pirates quartet of Duncan, Contreras, Ethan Knight, and Jack Hansen closed the day with another second-place finish, this time in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:31.98). 
 
The Pirates will return to action at the Trinity University Tiger Invitational from Thursday, Nov. 21 through Saturday, Nov. 23.
