Southwestern Wraps Up Road Trip With Meet Against Oklahoma Christian

On the second day of a back-to-back, the Southwestern University Pirates men's swimming and diving team lost to NCAA Division II Oklahoma Christian by a score of 157-102. 

The Pirates won three of the head-to-head meet's 16 men's events. 

"We did a very good job in most of our races," Head Coach Jon Duncan said. "I am very proud of how we worked together during our second day of competition on the road. We're looking forward to a solid week of practice and Incarnate Word on Friday." 

Todd Coachman picked up the Pirates' first victory in the sixth event, winning the 200-yard freestyle by fractions of a second with a time of 1:48.57 to Derek Duckworth's 1:48.89. 

The Pirates placed the top two swimmers in the 200-yard breaststroke, led by Sam Anderson's time of 2:12.98, followed by Alek Argueta's 2:14.21. The duo also took two of the top three spots in the 100-yard breaststroke with Argueta finishing second with a time of 1:00.56 and Anderson following at 1:01.15.

Southwestern closed out the event with a win in the 40-yard freestyle relay, finishing with a time of 3:13.89, besting OC-OK's 3:16.15. 

Southwestern will return to action on Friday, Nov. 1 in San Antonio for a meet with the University of the Incarnate Word at 5:00 p.m.
