Men's Swimming and Diving Maintains Lead Through Day 2 of SCAC Championship Meet

SAN ANTONIO – The Southwestern University Pirates men's swimming and diving team maintained its 22-point lead through Day 2 of the SCAC Championships, totaling 268 while Trinity University moved up the standings with a score of 246.

It was a rough start for the meet's top two teams with Southwestern and Trinity kicking off the day with disqualifications for early take-offs in the 200 freestyle. The Pirates recovered with a big performance from Keith Gill, who took gold in the 50 freestyle with a time of 20.77.

Peter Robinson picked up a third-place finish in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:39.11, followed by Matthew Oevermann (4:42.36) and Nathan Seager (4:48.29).

Both Gill and Robinson set school records in their respective events. 

Day Three of the SCAC Championships will include the 400 IM, 100 butterfly, 200 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, 100 backstroke, and 400 medley relay.
