Men's Swimming and Diving Continues Strong Start With Victory Over Centenary

SHREVEPORT, La. – The Southwestern University Pirates men's swimming and diving team continued its strong start to the season, defeating the Centenary College Gents 173.50-80.50 on Saturday.

The Pirates began the meet with a victory in the 200 Yard Medley Relay, edging out the Gents 1:40.13 to 1:41.84 with Keith Gill anchoring the team with a time of 22.28, besting his counterpart's time of 23.56. Gill also won the 200 Yard Freestyle with a time 1:46.25—followed by Southwestern University's Dylan Neumann (1:50.15) and Sean Calvert (1:51.94)—and the 50 Yard Backstroke (25.92).

Colton Creasey took the 1,000 Yard Freestyle with a time of 10:55.53 and Mario Foltz won the 100 Yard Breaststroke with a time of 1:03.95. In the 50 Yard Freestyle, the Pirates took the top three spots, led by Carl-Ake Willberg (22.63) and followed by Todd Coachman (23.19) and Vittorio Kirken (23.19). Willberg also won the 100 Yard Butterfly with a time of 55.53. 

Peter Robinson topped the 100 Yard Freestyle, finishing with a time of 48.95. Kirken (29.23), Calvert (29.49) and Caden Garza finished in the top three spots in the 50 Yard Breaststroke.

The Pirates closed the event with a victory in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay, getting strong performances from Willberg (22.26) and Coachman (22.39) and finishing with a total time of 1:31.14.
