Men's Swimming Defeats OBU and Rhodes College

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Southwestern University Pirates men's swimming and diving team outperformed both Rhodes College and Ouachita Baptist University (OBU) on Friday night, defeating Rhodes College 162-98 and OBU 184-76.

The Pirates started strong with the 200 Yard Medley Relay, taking first place in the event with a time of 1:37.64, anchored by Keith Gill's time of 20.90. Gill also placed first in the 100 Yard Freestyle (47.40), an event the Pirates took the top three spots in with Carl-Ake Willberg (49.73) and Todd Coachman (49.79) taking second and third.

Rhodes College's Hayden Hill took first place in the 1,000 Yard Freestyle but Southwestern took the next four spots, led by Matthew Oevermann's second-place finish with a time of 10:22.96.

Peter Robinson took the 200 Yard Freestyle by roughly four seconds, finishing with a time of 1:46.09, followed by Todd Coachman's 1:50.78. He also topped the 500 Yard Freestyle by eight seconds, finishing with a time of 4:52.34.

Southwestern placed the three of the top four in the 100 Yard Breaststroke, led by Alek Argueta's 1:00.69 and Sean Calvert's 1:02.49 times. Argueta and Calvert also finished first and second in the 200 Yard Breaststroke.

The Pirates closed the meet winning the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay with a time of 3:19.21, narrowly defeating OBU's 3:19.88.
