Men's swimming and diving holds leads after third day of SCAC Championships

LEWISVILLE, Texas – The Southwestern men's swimming and diving team has led after all three days of competition at the SCAC Championships.

The Pirates have racked up 610 points, leading Trinity (589.5) and Colorado College (406).

Southwestern remained in front as four more school records fell.

Todd Coachman won the 200-yard freestyle, setting the program mark with a time of 1:41.77.

Additionally, Matt Sluss was first to the wall in the 100-yard butterfly. Sluss posted a school-best time of 50.15 seconds.

The Pirates also set a program mark in the 400-yard medley relay, as the squad finished second with a time of 3:25.48.

Michael Glover bested the school record in the 100-yard backstroke, as his time of 50.98 seconds was good for third place.

Martin Martinez and Shelby Hall finished 1-2 in the 400-yard individual medley and Mickey Scharbrough was a runner-up in the 100-yard breaststroke.

Southwestern will attempt to capture the conference title Saturday. The final events begin at 10 a.m.
