Southwestern wraps up first half of season on Sunday

SAN ANTONIO – The Southwestern men's swim team placed fourth overall at the Trinity Invite, which wrapped up Sunday evening.

The Pirates tallied 392 points during the three-day competition. Henderson State (985 points) won the meet, while Texas-Permian Basin (481.5) finished second and Wayland Baptist (479) placed third.

Mickey Scharbrough placed third overall in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:08.09.

Meanwhile, Shelby Hall led a trio of Pirate swimmers in the 200-yard butterfly, as he touched the wall in fourth place with a time of 1:55.86. Evan Jones (1:57.84) was fifth, while Martin Martinez (1:58.46) finished seventh in the A final.

Southwestern wrapped up the first half of its season. The squad will return to action on January 3 against Albion.
