Men's swimming races to two victories on Friday

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Southwestern men's swimming and diving team defeated a pair of opponents on Friday. The Pirates earned a 176-68 win over Rhodes and logged a 132-128 victory over host Ouachita Baptist.

Southwestern won a total of seven races on the day, including six individual events.

Simmon Belaineh led the way with three victories. He was first to the wall in the 50- and 100-yard freestyles. Belaineh also was a member of the 400-yard freestyle relay team that posted a win.

Shelby Hall won both the 200-yard butterfly (1:59.50) and the 500-yard freestyle (4:53.88).

Meanwhile, Justin Milner raced to a win in the 1000-yard freestyle (10:29.60), touching the wall over 13 seconds faster than the next finisher.

The Pirates will return to action Saturday at Centenary. The competition is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. in Shreveport, La.
