Two school records fall on day two of SCAC Championships

LEWISVILLE, Texas – Two more school records fell on day two of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships Thursday at the Westside Aquatic Center.

Southwestern's 200-meter freestyle relay set the program record with a time of 1:23.45, which was good for a runner-up finish. The foursome was comprised of Simmon Belaineh, Michael Glover, Zachary Kline and Matt Sluss.

Sluss also bested his old school record in the 200-meter individual medley. Sluss won the event for the second straight year with a time of 1:53.35.

Meanwhile, the Pirates logged three other runner-up finishes.

Mickey Scharbrough finished second in the 200-meter individual medley, while Evan Jones was runner-up in the 500-meter freestyle and Glover touched the way second in the 50-meter freestyle.

Southwestern sits in second place in the team standings with 281 points. The Pirates trail Trinity, which has logged 339 points.

Competition will resume at 10:30 a.m. Friday.
