Gents steal win from Pirates 2-1

SHREVEPORT, La. – Southwestern out-shot Centenary 14-6 and seemed to control the match but were unable to get past the Gents as SU fell 2-1 Sunday.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Centenary took the lead in the 36th minute as Paul scored from 15 yards out to send Southwestern into halftime down 1-0.
  • The Pirates took six shots with four being on frame in the first half, but all were saved, keeping Southwestern off the board.
  • It wasn't until the 62nd minute that the Pirates were able to even the count as Jake Swonke scored, assisted by Clay Martin and Sean Christy.
  • A through ball missed its intended target and ended at the feet of Braylen Hollins who ripped a shot from 18 yards out and into the back of the net for Centenary's game winner in the 76th minute.
