GEORGETOWN – Southwestern University men's soccer has announced the return of a familiar face with the addition of Kevin Donovan, this time to the sidelines as assistant coach.
Donovan returns to Southwestern after playing for head coach Don Gregory from 2001-2005 where he was a team captain in his final season. He also was named Newcomer of the Year and shared Southwestern's Most Outstanding Player Award in 2003 and 2004.
The San Antonio native was a two-time First Team All-SCAC selection in 2003 and 2004 while also earning all-region honors twice.
Prior to returning to Southwestern, Donovan spent time as a coach and trainer at Woodbury Soccer Club from 2009-2014 in Minnesota. After graduating he was a member of the Lions Futball Club coaching staff in San Antonio during the 2005-2009 seasons. In 2013, Donovan earned his USSF National "B" License and also holds a National "C" License as well as completing a number of youth modules.
Donovan received a Bachelor's of Arts in sociology from Southwestern in 2005. He currently resides in Georgetown.
The Pirate men's soccer team returns to the field this Friday in an exhibition contest against the defending PDL Champions Austin Aztex. Action on the Southwestern campus is set to kickoff at 7 p.m.
