Three Pirates earn SCAC All-Tournament nods

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. In exclusive voting by the SCAC men's soccer head coaches, Daniel Poole, Steven Resnik and Matthew Nickell were selected to the 2013 SCAC All-Tournament Team.

Daniel Poole headed the team for the Pirates. Poole was selected as the Tournament Defensive MVP after posting a tournament-high 13 saves including two diving saves on two penalty kicks. Poole also recorded an assist on the weekend, starting the attack on Southwestern's first goal against Colorado College.

Resnik, a senior midfielder, was a spark plug over the weekend and scored the game winning goal against Colorado College with just under three minutes remaining in overtime to send the Pirates into the SCAC Finals for the second consecutive season. Resnik took six shots, three on goal, over the weekend for a .500 shots on goal percentage to earn his second All-Tournament Team selection.

Nickell, a senior defender, earned his second All-Tournament Team pick after heading up the defensive line that allowed just two goals over the weekend to advance to the Finals. Nickell was often involved in the offensive attacks, responsible for kick-starting the counterattack after breaking down opponents in the defensive third of the field.

Southwestern fell to #7 Trinity 1-0 in the Finals to end their season at 14-7-1.
