GEORGETOWN, Texas - A diving save on a CC penalty kick by Daniel Poole and a golden goal by Steven Resnik catapulted the Pirates into the SCAC Conference Championship match for the second year in a row.

Colorado got the first real look of the game as Sean Parham broke free from Sean Christy, but Daniel Poole exerted his dominance in goal with a huge save.

Southwestern's confidence was evident as SU had numerous well-organized attacks in the opening 15 minutes that were narrowly broken up by the Tiger defensive line before the Pirates could get a strong shot off. SU's best look came in the 21^st minute as Kyle Allen broke through the defense and found Michael Oliveras wide open just outside the top of the 6-yard box. Oliveras took one touch to gather the ball and blasted a shot at goal. Colorado College's Ian Horne made a miraculous diving save to keep the game scoreless, stunning the crowd that was anticipating the go-ahead goal for the Pirates.

And just like that all of SU's work paid off as Poole started an attack by stepping out of the box to play the ball forward. Oliveras broke through the defense and took the Tigers by surprise, running down Poole's ball and confidently one-touching it into the back of the net for the go-ahead goal in the 29^th minute.

The Pirates were just inches from making it a 2-0 lead as Resnik had two shots just miss. His first careened off the right post and his follow-up was saved off the line by the CC defense in the 41^st minute.

Colorado College came out of halftime on a mission to tie the game, attacking Southwestern with all they had. The Pirates' defense stayed tough and fended off the attacks while the offense reeved up to get three great looks just over fifteen minutes into the second half.

Just as in the first half, however, their attacks were just inches off as the game remained 1-0 heading into the final 25 minutes of the contest.

Colorado continued to push and kept possession for a large part of the second half, sensing they were close to scoring, and got the game tying goal in the 74^th minute. Christian Wulff took the corner kick from the right corner and placed the ball in front of goal, finding Patrick Robinson for his first goal of the season, tying the game 1-1 late.

In the 79^th minute Southwestern seemed doomed to go down 2-1 as the Tigers were awarded a penalty kick after a CC attacker fell in the box. Brandon Olivie, Colorado College's leading scorer, addressed the PK and sent a laser shot at goal, but Poole guessed correctly and made a diving save as the fans erupted in excitement, holding the game tied at one a piece.

With renewed energy the Pirates pressed as hard as they had all game but couldn't push one in the back of the net despite a few great looks and the game went into overtime.

Needing just one goal to win the match, Southwestern continued on and had the opening they needed as Oliveras found himself open in front of the goal with the ball in flight towards him. His one touch as the ball came over his shoulder was not quite enough to get in goal, keeping the match tied 1-1.

With just over three minutes to play Oliveras made a Pirate win a reality as he found Resnik open inside the 18. Resnik took one touch to gather the ball and drilled a shot at the right post that deflected off a Tiger defender and into the back of the net for the game winner as fans stormed the field.

The win sends the Pirates into the SCAC Championship match against Trinity slated for Sunday at 1 p.m.
