#7 Tigers steal #1 seed on senior night

#7 Tigers steal #1 seed on senior night

GEORGETOWN, Texas - Southwestern and Trinity ended the regular season in an epic battle in front of a record crowd on Friday night. Trinity edged out the 1-0 win to send SU into the SCAC tournament as the #2 seed.

Trinity started the game on a mission, looking to get revenge on the loss earlier in the season, and took one shot and three corners in the first six minutes of the game. Southwestern posted the first shot on goal in the ninth minute as Timothy Eamma blasted one on frame that was saved by Matt Cardone.

The up tempo game continued as both teams got their looks at goal, but Trinity managed a goal first on a wind-assisted lofting corner kick that hooked into goal in the 24th minute.

As the half came to a close the tension continued to mount. Southwestern had a few through balls go just out of range of the forwards to keep the game at 1-0 through halftime.

Southwestern upped their physicality as the second half got underway but couldn't produce a goal as the game ended with the Pirates falling 1-0.

The Pirates fall to 13-6-1 overall and 11-2-1 in the SCAC with the loss. They enter the SCAC Conference Tournament next weekend as the #2 seed and receive a first round bye. Bracket information and game times will be announced next week as Southwestern serves as host for the Men's Conference Championship.
