LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - MATTHEW NICKELL OF SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY, a senior defender from Aledo, Texas and MATT CARDONE OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a junior goalkeeper from San Antonio, Texas, have been selected the SCAC Men's Soccer Co-Defensive Players-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, October 21st through Sunday, October 27th.

Nickell scored one goal and assisted on one other as the Pirates went 2-0 in SCAC play this weekend.

Nickell's two shots were both on goal for a 1.000 shots on goal percentage.  That is his third goal of the season and fourth assist from the SU backfield this year.

The Pirates move within one win of setting a new SU record for most wins in a season over the weekend, securing their 12th and 13th wins. The current record was set in 2001 with 14 wins.

Southwestern, 11-1-1 in the SCAC and 13-5-1 overall, sit in second place in the SCAC. They close out regular season action on Friday night, hosting league-leading Trinity at 8 p.m.
