Nickell's two goals launch Pirates to 3-1 win over Centenary

SHREVEPORT, La. - Southwestern moved to 9-1-1 in the SCAC with a 3-1 win over Centenary College on Sunday. 

Matthew Nickell got things started for Southwestern with a goal, assisted by Zach Faulkner, in the 17th minute. That is where the scoring ended in the first half as the Pirates took a 1-0 lead into halftime. 

Centenary closed the game in the first five minutes of the second half as Cole Davidson put the ball in the back of the net in the 51st minute to even the game once again, 1-1. 

In the final 20 minutes of the match SU secured the win with two goals, both assisted by Faulkner. Michael Oliveras scored first in the 73rd minute with help from Faulkner and Timothy Eamma and Nickell added his second of the game, assisted by Faulkner, in the 82nd minute to arrive at the 3-1 win. 

Southwestern is second in the SCAC heading into the final weekend of road games for the Pirates. They face Texas Lutheran and Schreiner next weekend, beginning with Schreiner on Friday evening.
