OT Win in Final Game Lands Men's Soccer in Post Season

SHERMAN, Texas - The Pirates needed to take care of business on Sunday afternoon and get a little help from Millsaps to earn a berth in the first ever SCAC Conference tournament. SU handled their business with a 2-1 overtime win against Austin College.

Millsaps, who was 0-8 going into their contest with Rhodes, need to win or tie to push Southwestern into sixth place in the SCAC, final spot for the conference tournament. The Majors did just that.

Austin College struck first just over five minutes into the contest, taking an early lead. SU's Thomas Davis scored the equalizer just before the break to send the Pirates into halftime tied 1-1.

Neither team could find the back of the net, even with the Pirates taking five more shots in the second half then the 'Roos.

Just 59 seconds into the extra frame Southwestern's Evan Perkins scored the golden goal for Southwestern, lifting the Pirates to the thrilling 2-1 victory.

SU led in the shot count 23-16 and had four more corners (8-4) than the 'Roos. Daniel Poole recorded three saves in goal for the Pirates.

The Pirates will enter the tournament as the #6 seed and have a rematch with #3 Colorado College on Friday at 7:30 pm CT in Birmingham, Ala.
