Pirates Drop Game to Hendrix

Pirates Drop Game to Hendrix

The Warriors struck it hot in a night game in Georgetown, TX as the Pirates were unable to stop the Hendrix attack.  Hendrix came out firing racking up 3 shots in the first 10 minutes of the game.  The Pirates continued to drive into Hendrix territory to answer, managing a header from Evan Perkins off a corner kick that twas saved by Warrior keeper Adam Legg.  The Pirates barely missed a scoring opportunity after a rocket off the foot of Timothy Eamma sailed just high from the edge of the box.

Hendrix earned the first goal of the contest when Duncan Keegan won a loose ball at midfield and dribbled deep toward the Pirate goal.  At the last second he passed it past a diving Nick Pierce to Connor Silvestri  who tapped the ball in the goal for the score.  Keegan would add another Warrior score to the total after a misplay allowed Keegan to take the ball, dribble to the far right side of the goal and kick back to the left side for the score.

The third goal of the match came minutes later after a rebounded shot by the Warriors' Tresor Mukiza landed back at Mukiza's feet who took the opporltunity to put the ball in the upper right corner for the score.  The Pirates sought to answer and just missed the score from Thomas Davis who hit a sinking shot that just skipped over the Warriors keeper who caught enough of the ball to push it over the bar and away from danger.

The Warriors added another score late in the first on a free kick from midfield that was kicked across the field.  Duncan Keegan put himself in the middle of things again with the assist on a header across the gaol to Jake Thielke.

Despite the deficit, the Pirates came out with fire in the second half.  Colin McCullough took a long cross and headed the ball across the goal, past the keeper but the shot was deflected by a well placed Warrior defender.  The Warriors would add another goal from Duncan Keegan 15 minutes into the second.  The Pirates got on the board with 16 minutes left in the game when Thomas Davis took a long run into the Hendrix box and took a shot past the keeper when the keeper came out to meet him.  The goal was his 7th of the season.  The game would remain even until the and finish at 5-1.

The Pirates drop to 6-7-1 on the season and 3-3 in conference.  They will take to the field again October 23 at home against Colorado College.
