Perkins Earns SCAC Co-Offensive Player-of-the-Week

Evan Perkins, a junior defender from Keller, Texas has been selected as the SCAC Men's Soccer Co-Offensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, October 3 through Sunday, October 9. He shares the honor with Brian Hines of Trinity University.

Perkins continues to impress on the front line for the Pirates after returning from injuries. In two games this week he scored four goals including a hat trick against Rhodes College on Sunday afternoon, his second hat trick of the season. Two of the goals in Sunday's contest were less than 30 seconds apart. Perkins took 12 shots, nine on goal, for a .750 shots on goal percentage, scoring four goals for eight points.

Hines scored four goals in two SCAC wins over the weekend, highlighted by a three-goal performance in Friday's win over Rhodes. Hines scored Trinity's first hat trick of the season – the second of his career – on Friday night. Two of his goals came in a span of just 26 seconds late in the first half. He scored again just 2:21 into the second period to make it 5-1 Trinity. His second of three goals was the eventual game-winner. He also scored in the 30th minute against Millsaps to put the Tigers up 2-0 at halftime of that game.

The Pirates are currently fifth in the conference through four games with a 6-5-1 overall record and 3-1 conference record. They face league-leader Trinity on Friday night who is undefeated in both conference and regular season play. Game time is set for 8pm in San Antonio, Texas.
