Men's Lacrosse Loses To Colorado College

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Southwestern men's lacrosse struck first, Colorado College struck more often, putting together two bigs runs to defeat the Pirates 16-5. 

Jack Doloszycki put the Pirates on the board less than a minute into the game, scoring on a feed by Cody Foster to take a brief 1-0 lead. The Tigers responded with a 6-0 run, getting a pair of goals from Anders Erickson, who was one of two Colorado College players to finish with a hat trick, along with Makay Hansen. 

Southwestern answered with two consecutive goals, getting another from Doloszycki from an Asbury assist, and another from Will Thompson on a pass from Blake Sitterly to cut the deficit to 6-3. Erickson hurt the Pirates again, finding Noah Beecher with three seconds remaining in the first quarter to give Colorado College a 7-3 lead. 

The Pirates were held scoreless in the second quarter while giving up two early goals, including one while a man down to trail 9-3 at the half. 

Colorado College opened the second half with Erickson's third goal and a Declan Maguire unassisted score to complete a 5-0 run and give the Tigers an 11-3 lead. Jack Carolan broke the scoring drought off a Sitterly pass, but Colorado College answered with another pair of goals. Asbury found Nick Doxey with 4:24 remaining in the third quarter for the Pirates' final goal of the game. 

The Tigers closed the game on a 3-0 run, scoring the final goal on an unassisted shot from Jacob Smith with 11:35 remaining. 

Colorado College dominated possession, winning 13-of-24 face-off opportunities, holding a 38-24 advantage in ground balls, and taking 56 shots to the Pirates' 17. 

Southwestern dropped to 4-4 with the loss. Colorado College improved to 6-1. The Pirates will travel to Centenary next Friday, April 2 to play the Gentlemen at 7:00 p.m.
