Pirates rout Crusaders 20-7

IRVING, Texas - Southwestern has never lost a men's lacrosse game to the University of Dallas in program history and Saturday afternoon kept the streak alive as the Pirates dominated for a 20-7 win. 

The two teams traded goals early in the contest but SU got hot as they went on a 4-0 run to lead 5-1 at the end of the first quarter. Dallas struck first in the second quarter but Southwestern controlled the majority of the half and took a five goal lead, 8-3, into halftime. 

SU exploded out of halftime for 12 unanswered goals, extending their lead to 17-3 with 4:30 left in the third. Southwestern cruised through the fourth quarter to secure the win. 

Kai Knight-Turcan and Zac Asbury posted four goals each in the win while Asbury led with three assists. Jared Welsh (3), Matt Amerie (2) Everett Barger (2) and Thomas Volpe (2) were all multiple goal scorers. Welsh and Spalding also added two assists each. 

Achilles Armendariz posted ten ground balls as Southwestern won 22 of 29 faceoffs while Sean Smith led with two caused turnovers. 

The win improves the Pirates to 9-6 on the year. They will search for their program record tying tenth win on Saturday, April 14th as they face Rhodes at 1 pm.
