Turnovers, penalties cost Pirates at home

Southwestern committed 22 turnovers and served six minutes of penalties in a 11-3 loss to Lasell College at home on Tuesday night.

The Pirates scored the first goal of the game as Jackson Timian found Jake Ham with nine minutes to play. Lasell was quick to respond, however, scoring less than 30 seconds later to kick off a 6-0 run lasting until late in the second quarter. Ham broke the scoring drought for Southwestern with his second goal of the game with 5:11 to play.

Lasell held the Pirates scoreless in the third quarter and posted two more goals to send SU into the fourth and final frame trailing 8-2.

Southwestern started the comeback with a goal from Dakota Butler, assisted by Timian, 15 seconds in, but the comeback stalled out as LC added three more to close the game 11-3.

Lasell won the shot count 43-23 and won 11 of the 17 faceoffs. Southwestern's Charlie Fisher continued he tough play in goal, posting 17 saves on the evening.

The Pirates fall to 4-6 on the year while Lasell improves to 3-2. SU returns to the road to face Benedictine College on Friday, March 27th in Illinois.
