DALLAS, Texas – Colorado College scored 12 unanswered goals to open the game as Southwestern dropped their conference opener 16-4 on Friday night at SMU Stadium.

Less than one minute into the game the Tigers took control as Taylor Paul scored to kick off a run that would bury the Pirates early. Southwestern headed into the break down 8-0, taking only two shots in the first half.

CC picked up where they left off as the third quarter got underway, adding four more goals to their lead until Austin Fox punched SU's first goal home with 8:43 to play in the third. Michael Villa added a man-up goal, assisted by Jeremy Tufnell, three minutes later. At the end of three quarters Southwestern trailed 12-2.

Four more goals to open the fourth quarter dug an even deeper hole for the Pirates, but SU scored two goals in the final six minutes of the game to arrive at the 16-4 final.

Southwestern trailed 49-20 in shots and won just two of the 23 faceoffs. Defensively, SU did force the Tigers into 17 turnovers, but only picked up 16 ground balls while CC collected 41.
