Men’s Lacrosse Falls to Skidmore

GEORGETOWN, Texas - Skidmore took a big, early lead as Southwestern men's lacrosse fell 14-5 on Monday night.

Skidmore shot out of the gate as the game opened, scoring their first of six goals less than one minute into the game. Southwestern posted one goal in response and, after a scoreless second quarter, trailed by five, 6-1, at halftime.

The second half started in a similar fashion with Skidmore getting on the board early in frame. SU scored two goals in the third quarter but Skidmore still had more fire power as they scored three to extend their lead to six, 9-3, with one quarter to play.

Skidmore made it clear that they were in control with four straight goals to start the fourth quarter. Southwestern scored two of their own, but Skidmore added one final goal with 1:16 to play to arrive at the 14-5 final.

Southwestern trailed 52-21 in shots and committed nine more turnovers in the loss. AJ Cole was busy in goal and recorded 15 saves.

With the loss, the Pirates fall to 4-4 on the year while Skidmore improves to 3-3. Southwestern hits the road to face Shenandoah on Wednesday in Virginia at 6 p.m.
