Cremen named assistant men’s lacrosse coach

GEORGETOWN – Southwestern University head men's lacrosse coach Bill Bowman announced the addition of Rick Cremen as the Pirates assistant coach Monday.

Cremen comes to Southwestern after one season at St. Andrews University (Laurinburg, N.C.) as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for the Knights.

"I couldn't be more excited to join Coach Bowman and the Southwestern staff," Cremen said. "This kind of opportunity to coach for such a great institution only comes along so often and I plan on making every moment count. I'd also like to thank Coach Bowman and (Director of Athletics) Dr. Glada Munt for such an excellent opportunity to be part of such a great institution. I also want to thank my former coaches and family for all the support and inspiration."

During his time with the Knights his recruiting class amassed an 11-5 record with three all-conference defenders and one honorable mention honoree. St. Andrews also just missed a trip to the national tournament in 2013 losing to SCAD Savannah in the conference semifinals.

Prior to his time at St. Andrews, Cremen spent time in England introducing lacrosse and working with the English Lacrosse Program as a Local Development Officer. He also has served as a head coach for several youth league teams along the east coast including stops in Baltimore, Washington D.C. and Virginia areas.

Cremen was also a coach for the Mad Lax All-Stars during the 2010-2012 seasons serving as a head coach and assistant coach for the McLean, Virginia based organization.

As a player, he played at CCBC Catonsville helping his team earn a semifinal finish at the 2002 NJCAA National Championships. Cremen finished as collegiate career as a two-year letterman at Stevenson University where he played long stick midfield for the Mustangs. He earned a degree in business administration in 2008 from Stevenson.
