Colorado Overpowers Pirates in Conference Game

The seasoned Colorado College team defeated Southwestern 22-2 in an SCAC neutral site game on Saturday afternoon in Jackson, Miss. The Pirates fall to 4-7 on the season and 1-2 in the SCAC while Colorado remains perfect at 7-0 on the year, 4-0 in conference.

The Tigers took control early with a five goal first quarter and followed with 10 goals in the second for a commanding 15-1 lead at the half.

Southwestern's defense held the high-powered CC offense to just seven second half goals and scored one themselves for the 22-2 final.

The highlight of the afternoon was Jamie Long's (pictured) goal in the fourth. With just one minute to play Long juked his way through the Tiger defense and scored with a behind the back shot while falling for SU's second goal of the game.

Colorado had nearly 60 more shots than the Pirates (70-11) and won all but five of the faceoffs (23-28). Chris O'Quain recorded 20 saves on the afternoon.

Southwestern remains in Jackson to face fellow SCAC opponent, Millsaps, on Sunday at noon.
