LATE GAME RALLY FALLS SHORT AS PIRATES SCORE NINE SECOND HALF GOALS
ALBION, Mich. - The Pirates scored nine goals in the second half but ran out of time as they fell to Albion 15-11 in their first game of a two-game road trip in Michigan over Spring Break.
Southwestern started off strong with two goals on four shots and were down by just one goal at the end of the first period, 3-2. The second half continues to be a tough spot for the Pirates as they allowed six goals and could not score themselves to dig a 9-2 hole heading into the break.
With a renewed drive after halftime SU put their offense into overdrive, scoring five goals in the third quarter, but allowed four more by Albion to bring the score to 13-7.
As time was running out in the fourth quarter the Pirates continued to push for their first win. They scored four goals in the final frame but fell just short of the win, falling 15-11.
Jamie Long continues to dominate offensively as he scored three goals and had three assists. Edward Williams and Luther Faulk contributed two goals each while Elliot Kelly, Thomas Mock and Connor Hanrahan had one each. Carney also tallied three assists. Mitch Loney led with five goals for Albion.
Southwestern falls to 0-7 on the year. They will continue to search for their first win of the season and program on Thursday at Adrian at 6pm.
