Men's Golf Opens ASC Preview in Seventh Place

BROWNWOOD, Texas — The No. 11-ranked Southwestern University Pirates men's golf team ended the first day of the American Southwest Conference (ASC) Preview in seventh place with a combined score of 304. 

McMurry University leads the field with a score of 287 on a course with a par of 288. LeTourneau University trails with a score of 295, paced by individual leader Landon Oney, who shot 69 for a score of three under. 

Senior Cade Osgood was the only Pirate to finish the first round in the top 10, tied in a five-way tie for ninth place with a score of 73. Osgood opened the course on Hole 12 and bogeyed on three of his first six holes. He found his groove on 18, hitting back-to-back birdies on a Par 4 and 5 (Hole 1). He double-bogeyed on Hole 4 but picked up birdies on 6 and 10 to finish just one over par.

Senior John Kellum and first year Christian Rodriguez tied for 25th with a score of 76. Kellum finished with three birdies on Holes 13, 9, and 11 but also had five bogeys and one double-bogey. Rodriguez had five bogeys and birdied on his final hole (12). 

Thomas Kuznar sits in a tie for 42nd with a score of 79 and Austin Kelley is in a tie for 53rd with a tie of 81.
