Third Place Finish Earns Men's Golf Two Player Of The Week Awards

SANDESTIN, Fla. – The No. 12-ranked Southwestern University Pirates men's golf team took third place at the Golfweek Invitational at The Raven Golf Course over the weekend, led by stellar performances from Cade Osgood and Sutherland Stith.

Southwestern started strong, finishing the first round in second place with a 282 to Emory University's 272 lead. After dropping some in the second round with a 292, the Pirates recovered in the third round with another 282, combining for 854 to hit four over par.

Emory University, ranked first in the nation in NCAA DIII, won the event hitting 10 below par and Huntingdon College (third) finished second as the only other school below part at -1.

Osgood and Stith tied for fifth individually out of 90 participants, with each hitting four below par with scores of 209 to break the record for best score in a 54-hole event. Osgood carded 12 birdies during the 54-hole event and led the field in par-three scoring with a 2.80 average. Stith posted 10 birdies and was one of four athletes to record an eagle.

Both were named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week for their efforts.

The Pirates will travel to Abilene, Texas from Oct. 21-23 to compete in the Hardin-Simmons Abilene Invitational to conclude its fall schedule.
