22nd-Ranked Pirates Finish Third at Abilene Intercollegiate

ABILENE, Texas - The 22nd-ranked Southwestern University men's golf team shot an impressive 293 (+9) on Tuesday morning in the final round of the Abilene Intercollegiate, placing third overall with a two-round score of 601 (+33) at Diamondback Golf Course.

Concordia (TX) ran away with the title, shooting a 291 (+7) in round two for a two round score of 577 (+9). Hardin-Simmons placed second just one stroke ahead of the Pirates at 600 (+32) while Mary Hardin-Baylor placed fourth at 607 (+39). Texas Lutheran rounded out the top five with a two round score of 607 (+40).

Sophomore Cade Osgood and senior Sutherland Stith each placed eighth after they both shot a 72 (E) in the second round for a two round score of 149 (+5). Osgood had three birdies on the day while Stith had two to go with 13 pars.

Junior Matthew Christl finised 11th, shooting a 75 (+3) for the second straight day for a two round score of 150 (+6). Senior Curtis Cuccia shot a 74 (+2) for a two round score of 155 (+11) while senior Tyler Gammill shot a 79 (+7) for a two round score of 158 (+14).

Southwestern concludes its fall season and will take some time off in the next few months before returning on February 26th as they travel to Austin for the Linda Lowery Invitational.
