Southwestern in fourth after one round in Seguin

SEGUIN, Texas - Southwestern men's golf opened the 2015-16 campaign at the John Bohmann Memorial Invitational Monday and sit in fourth place with a 591 combined score after 36 holes.

Senior Cody Hebert shaved six strokes off his opening round to finish day one tied for 14th with a 148 (77-71). First-year Matthew Christl did one better by taking 11 strokes off round one to finish tied for 17th with 149 strokes (80-69).

Senior Andrew DeHennis had a strong opening round but faltered in round two to end with 150 strokes (71-79) and tied for 19th place. Connor Murphy posted a 151 for 23rd place (76-75) and Devon Horne a 152 for 28th place (78-78). 

Tyler Gammill and Curtis Cuccia both made the trip as individuals. Gammill finished in tied for eighth with a 144 (72-72) and Cuccia a 157 (80-77) for 34th place. 

Schreiner's Phillip Stewart and McMurry's Hunter Johnson lead the field with a 141 while Texas Lutheran sits atop the team leaderboard with a 579 team score. 

Southwestern closes out the Invitational tomorrow at the Starcke Park Municipal Course.
