#13 Southwestern men's golf earns spot in NCAA Championship

For the third year in a row the SU Men's Golf team will take on the nation's best for the NCAA National Title.

The Pirates finished in 11th place in 2013 and 14th place in 2014. Jordan Cowart has the highest finish of any Southwestern male golfer, finishing tied for third in last year's championship.

Greensboro, N.C. will serve as host once again and competition will begin on May 12th at Grandover Resort. After 36 holes, the field will be trimmed to the top-15 teams, plus the top-five individuals not playing on one of the top-15 teams. The remaining 36 holes will be contested on the East Course May 14 and May 15.

Southwestern is one of three Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference schools represented in the 41 team field. Defending national champion Schreiner returns and Texas Lutheran's Adam Peterson will compete as an individual.

A total of 210 participants will compete at the 2015 championships. Thirty-two conferences were awarded an automatic qualification for the championships. Two teams were selected from Pool B, which consists of independent institutions, and institutions that are members of conferences that do not meet the requirements for automatic qualification. The final seven berths were reserved for Pool C, which are institutions from automatic-qualifying conferences that are not the conference champion and any remaining Pool B teams.

The top five individuals are selected from the remaining players who have not qualified with a team.
