ORLANDO, Fla. – The Southwestern University men's golf team will start the season ranked in the Golf Coaches Association of American Top 25 Poll released by the organization late last week.

The Pirates finished the season ranked 11th – after finishing in the same position at the NCAA National Championships – and will begin the 2014-15 campaign ranked 13th. Southwestern is one of three SCAC teams to be ranked in the top 25 including defending national champion, Schreiner, and Trinity.

Schreiner begins the season ranked tied for 3rd while Trinity entered the polls at 23rd. Oglethorpe received eight first place votes from the coaches and will begin the season in the top spot while Methodist begins the season 2nd.

Southwestern returns all-American Jordan Cowart, who finished third at the NCAA Championships. He will be joined by returners, Andrew DeHennis, Michael Gebhardt, Cody Hebert and Connor Murphy.

The Pirates will open the season September 8 in Seguin, Texas, at the John Bohmann Memorial Invitational.
