Pirate men open season ranked 14th in Golf World Poll

NEW YORK, NY – After an outstanding 2012-13 season the Southwestern University men's golf team will begin the fall season ranked in the same position they finished last year as the Golf World/Nike Golf Preseason Division III College Coaches' Poll was released today.

Southwestern will open the season ranked No. 14 when the head to the John Bohmann Memorial September 9 hosted by Texas Lutheran. Last year the Pirates fought to earn a spot at the NCAA III National Championships finishing 14th.

Last year's national runner-up, Transylvania was picked in the top spot followed by Oglethorpe at No. 3 and Methodist at No. 4, while St. John's (Minn.) rounds out the top five. Defending national champion UT-Tyler opens the season ranked No. 8.

The Pirates are one of two SCAC teams ranked in the preseason top 25 with Schreiner checking in at No. 24. Below is the complete top 25 poll.
