Broussard to play in National Bowl on Sunday

GEORGETOWN, Texas – Southwestern University senior Justin Broussard accepted an invitation to play in the National Bowl, an all-star game featuring student-athletes from schools across the country at the Football Championship Subdivision and Division II and III levels.

The 7th Annual National Bowl is scheduled to take place on Sunday, Dec. 4, at 8:30 a.m. (CT) at the Daytona Beach Municipal Stadium in Daytona Beach, Florida.

Broussard, who was named Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year earlier this month, will take part in practice sessions on Friday and Saturday, before suiting up for the National team on Sunday.

The Beaumont native wrapped up a star-studded career with the Pirates as a four-time, first-team all-league honoree. Broussard, a 6-foot-1, 235-pound defensive end, tallied 60 tackles, including 20.5 for loss, and 15.5 sacks during the 2016 campaign. He finished his career with 37 sacks, which is tied for second all-time in SCAC history. Broussard also set the conference's single-game mark with 5.5 sacks against Trinity on Oct. 15.

The National Bowl is an annual postseason college football all-star game consisting of top players from non-Football Bowl Subdivision schools. Scouts from several National Football League and Canadian Football League teams will be in attendance during the weekend to evaluate players.

Sunday's game will be broadcast via web stream by Audible Sports. For more information, visit http://nationalbowl.org.
