Broussard named SCAC Defensive Player of the Week again

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – Southwestern University junior Justin Broussard was named Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday afternoon. It marked the second time that Broussard has earned the league's weekly defensive honor.

Broussard, who also collected the accolade on Sept. 14, led the Pirates to a 35-28 victory at Austin College last Saturday. The 6-foot-1, 235-pound defensive end posted nine tackles (seven solos), including three for loss. He added two sacks and forced a fumble.

The Beaumont native has amassed 29 tackles, including 11 for loss, this year. He leads the conference and is tied for fifth in the nation with five sacks. Broussard also has forced a team-leading pair of fumbles.

Broussard and the rest of the Southwestern squad return to action on Saturday at Oklahoma Panhandle State.
